Tons of info, without overloadJun 26, 2009 I really enjoyed this book!! It offered simple explanations for some truly complex trading concepts. The book maintained the perfect pace for a beginner to pick up new ideas, and for a more experienced trader to reference as a 'refresher'.
In addition, I appreciated the summary and breakpoints at the end of every chapter-providing some much needed guidance (within and beyond the world of candlestick charts;)

My Two CentsJun 23, 2009 This book took me longer to finish than expected and it was struggle to get to the end. While a lot of the basic information in it was helpful, I found that the author got overly technical too quickly. The first few chapters were fine, but then in one chapter there was an avalanche of technical detail and terminology that was difficult to absorb all at once. Perhaps if the technical stuff was disseminated at a slower pace, I would have learned a lot more in this first pass. Several chapters will obviously be read multiple times in order to get it all.

For the beginner trader, who can stomach childishly written sentences...Jun 12, 2009 I have to start off by quoting another reviewer of this book, who was spot on:
> [ Adam Swelinger wrote ]:
> Ms.Turner needs to cut down on her caffene. What starts out as a promising book on
> day trading quickly devolves into an infantile screaming and bragging session. She
> peppers practically every sentence with an exclamation mark as if all her words
> had world shattering implications. Sorry Tony, the only shattering you have done
> is with our patience.
I could not have said it better. When I buy a non-fiction book to learn
something, I want it to be seriously written,... not 317 pages of fluff
(index included), and intelligence insulting sentences written for
10 year olds. A well written version of this book would have made it a more
important publishing, as well reduce the number of pages (cheap feel by the way)
by about 30 - 35%.

A MUST READ for making the switch from investing to day tradingJun 11, 2009 If you're just starting to day trade, or if you've been day trading a while and your account balance is steadily going down, this is THE book to read FIRST. It's a MUST READ.
I was a die hard fundamental long term investor and Motley Fool fan. However, I cashed out in Sept 2007 and have been sitting on that cash ever since, wondering what the heck to do. I concluded that day trading is the answer. A few trades and a small net loss later, I decided to sit down and study up.
This book is perfect for someone trying to make the switch from investing to day trading. It's what Toni Turner did herself and she knows what we need to learn. She explains the nuts and bolts of the whole day trading process which you simply won't learn from googling about technical indicators.
I have a BA in Economics and an MBA and have been investing for over 20 years so I'm not new to the investing scene. However, I am a day trading n00b and Ms. Turner connected all the dots for me and a lot of light bulbs came on.
Apparently, some people don't like Ms. Turner's writing style and apparently would prefer to read something dry and sleep-inducing. I love her easy to read and inspirational style. The hallmark of people who really understand their subject matter is the ability to explain it simply in conversation with normal humans. This is what Toni does in her book. But don't be fooled, her book is dense with technical concepts, she just makes it "sound" simple.
I really like her Center Points. It seems to me that understanding the psychology of day trading can make the difference between a) making money, or b) blowing out your account and having to go back to your day job, if you can find another day job in this economy ;-) Thus, the Center Point page at the end of each chapter.
After a read through the whole thing, I recommend sitting down with the book and your trading platform and paper trading or virtual trading for a few weeks. It will take you that long to customize your screens so that they work for, instead of against you anyway. I also found some helpful YouTube videos. After you get a sense of what trading style and strategies you want to pursue, then you can get books or take a course on that subject. Toni has a recommended reading list in the back, so you could move on to those books.
Toni shares with us her hard won lessons. The wise would heed her advice.
On the money...Jun 10, 2009 Toni Turner has done an excellent job of portraying the market, it's movements, and a new day trader's options. Her philosophy of "Trade to Trade Well" is on the money. In two short weeks of studying her text, I have already been able to identify key mistakes I made when purchasing a stock and how to make informed buying and selling decisions. After following her principles for success, I immediately covered my losses and started making a profit. In my opinion, she has definitely achieved her goal of having a book on the market that beginners can use to start in the right direction. Thank you to Toni for all of her hard work and ability to express a complex idea in a format that is easy to understand.
